A gripping story on StoryVault of a German teenager escaping from the advancing Russian army in 1945. She jumped out of the window of her home to flee in her nightdress in the snow, made her way to Berlin, and survived for months in a corpse strewn cellar, thanks to the occasional dead dog and an unexpected protector.
